O.K. Keyes and I co-taught a performative video project entitled Bodies Reconfigured. Eight participants wrote their own slam poems on the issue of their choice, created collaborative remixes of their poetry in small groups, and then video recorded their performances next to a large green screen. Using the Chroma Key effect in iMovie, the girls edited their performances by replacing both background and their own silhouettes with found images and video footage to enhance the meaning of their spoken word performances. We are indebted to a local artist SaBrina Jeffcoat and student volunteers Chelsea Casey and Bobbi Leavens for their assistance with this project.
